Winner Of The Zhejiang Province English Competition... Twice!

In 2009, I accepted a teaching position in Jiang Shan, China, located within the Zhejiang Province.

My role at that time involved instructing spoken English at Jiang Shan Public School.

Shortly afterwords, I was apprised of an upcoming English competition in which the school aimed to select two students as participants. While the school had a history of participation in this competition, securing victory had proven elusive in previous years.

With a commitment to assisting the students, I willingly dedicated extra hours after regular school hours to prepare them for the competition. My primary objective was to guide them toward success, as the first prize entailed a two-week excursion to Australia, which promised to be a transformative experience for the winning students.

Our rigorous training sessions took place four nights a week over three weeks, encompassing focused instruction on pronunciation, reading, and listening skills. Finally, the day arrived for the students to embark on their journey to the competition.

The following evening brought an exhilarating message: one of our students had clinched first place! I was lauded as a hero, but I humbly deflected the praise, emphasizing that it was the students who deserved the credit for their dedication and hard work.

In 2013, we decided to participate once more, adhering to the same disciplined approach, and once again emerged victorious.
